Hey, I'm Yvaine, a frontend engineer with 7+ years of experience, primarily focused on React, Next.js, and actively expanding my skill set with React Native. I’m obsessed with animations and crafting seamless, high-impact user experiences.

My journey into frontend began during university, where I studied Computer Science. I often found myself staring at black terminal windows — exciting in theory, but lacking visual feedback.

I was introduced to frontend development by one of my university instructors, who was pursuing a PhD in computer vision at the time. His recommendation opened a new world for me, and I instantly fell in love with the creativity and the vivid, user-facing world that frontend brings.

That passion shaped how I view frontend development. It’s more than frontend technology itself, it’s the bridge between ideas and reality. It’s not a static vision like design mockups, nor merely backend endpoints handling business logic. Frontend ties everything together in a seamless user experience. Above all, it's the first impression of a product — the living intersection where product vision, visual design, and system logic all converge.

I often joke that I’m a "bug router", because every issue seems to surface in the frontend, whether it’s a product logic flaw, a design omission, or a backend issue. That means I need to trace each issue back to its root, understand the context and intention, and redirect it to the right person. It’s not just about fixing things, it’s about ensuring consistency throughout the stack.

I believe that going deep in frontend expertise is just the foundation. To truly excel, a frontend engineer also needs strong product sense, good design taste, and a practical understanding of backend systems including databases and API design. After all, delivering exceptional user experiences requires more than just code, it takes empathy, aesthetics, and system-wide awareness.

At the core, it’s about putting myself in the user’s shoes, stepping into their perspective to think deeply about what kind of interactions they truly need.

quote

"Yvaine is the go-to front-end engineer when you want something built with craft and care."

"I hope Yvaine can step up to lead engineering coordination on projects. She has strong potential — both in taking ownership and in her product sense — and with the right support and opportunities, I believe she can grow beyond an individual contributor role"

I genuinely appreciate the recognition from my coworkers. It reminds me that I'm growing in the right direction and doing meaningful work.
